As you travel to see loved ones during the holidays, we implore all motorists to use caution while driving through work zones. Let ’em work, let ’em live.
This holiday season, we gather with our families to share in fellowship and a great meal. We also reflect on our blessings and the things that we have to be grateful for.
Here at SCFOR, we too are counting our blessings. We are thankful that this year, the South Carolina General Assembly passed historic legislation that will provide safer, more efficient roads. With more vehicles on the roadways than ever before and driver-fatality rates rising, it was critical for the legislature to pass a real plan to begin addressing South Carolina’s crumbling roads.
We are forever grateful for the courageous lawmakers that chose sound policy that will provide long-term infrastructure investment, meaningful SCDOT reform, and targeted tax relief for South Carolinians.
We also are appreciative of the dedicated better roads advocates and all those who contacted their legislator in support of a comprehensive plan to fix our roads. We stood together, my fellow South Carolinians, and we prevailed.
We are grateful to the department of transportation, led by Secretary Christy Hall, for their unwavering commitment to improving our roads. SCDOT has a 10-year plan regarding the process of bringing back the condition of South Carolina’s highway system from 30 years of under-funding. While the journey to complete the many projects is far from over, we can take this minute to pause and reflect on the progress that will be made over the next 10 years.
Best wishes to you and yours this Thanksgiving!
