The SC Alliance to Fix Our Roads (SCFOR) took up the banner of everyday South Carolinians who were sick and tired of the danger and embarrassment that comes with crumbling roadways. For nearly five years, the Alliance advocated on behalf of South Carolinians to secure a plan provide resources to #FixSCRoads.
In 2017, South Carolina lawmakers listened to their constituents by passing Act 40, which is providing the necessary resources to begin the tremendous task of repairing and improving South Carolina’s extensive network of roads an bridges. All of the new revenues are being used solely for the improvement of existing roads and bridges.
The 2017 road funding law was decades in the making, and represents bi-partisan cooperation and compromise. We commend the legislature for acting in the best interest of our state and providing resources to begin improving our state’s infrastructure.
SCFOR continues to promote the benefits provided by the new revenues through voter education as well as continuing to educate the public and elected officials on the importance of investing in South Carolina’s transportation infrastructure. Learn more about these efforts at www.scfor.org.
